Aja's Bio

I teach in the Kripalu tradition, as taught by Swami Kripalu and Amrit Desai. My classes range from gentle to vigorous and the intention is to awaken the prana (life-force) within. This awakened prana profoundly transforms, heals and enlivens the body, self and experience of life. The practices of asana, pranayamaand meditation are integrated throughout my teachings and classes to include coming into the present moment by centering the body, mind and breath. Pratapana (warming up the body) is a key feature in my classes as they prepare the body for more in depth asana. Asana sequences are creative and they are designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body including: standing and balancing, forward and back bending, spinal twists, lateral bends and inversions.

My classes are more than a work-out, they are designed to flex your physical and spiritual muscles through inspiring music, teachings and readings. I believe in the power of a dedicated yoga practice to change lives and my teaching reflects this belief.

My intention as a yoga teacher?

To awaken the possibility of a truly fulfilled and satisfying life through the practice of yoga as a comprehensive system for self-development.

To awaken prana through asana and pranayama so the body is flooded with vitality and life.

To guide you to your connection with the source, to your own inner wisdom, centeredness and Ultimate Truth.
